Aunque un poco de estr\u00e9s puede ser beneficioso, el estr\u00e9s a largo plazo puede causar muchos problemas y tener importantes consecuencias a corto y largo plazo en la salud f\u00edsica y emocional. En el caso de los adolescentes, la respuesta f\u00edsica al estr\u00e9s es mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida, ya que la parte de su cerebro que puede evaluar con calma el peligro y poner fin a la respuesta de estr\u00e9s (el c\u00f3rtex prefrontal) a\u00fan no est\u00e1 completamente desarrollada.  Aunque nadie puede evitar todo el estr\u00e9s, podemos ense\u00f1ar a nuestros hijos a afrontarlo y a encontrar estrategias positivas para hacerle frente.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12436 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/stress-bubble-orange-1-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>Los signos de estr\u00e9s en los j\u00f3venes pueden manifestarse de varias maneras.  Si tu hijo empieza a mostrar estos signos, es posible que el estr\u00e9s sea demasiado para \u00e9l solo y necesite ayuda:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Irritabilidad e ira:\u00a0 <\/strong>Los ni\u00f1os estresados pueden ser m\u00e1s pendencieros o irascibles de lo normal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cambios de comportamiento<\/strong>Los ni\u00f1os cooperativos se vuelven muy discutidores.  Los ni\u00f1os sociables de repente no quieren salir de casa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Problemas para dormir<\/strong>: Un ni\u00f1o o adolescente puede tener dificultades para dormir, dormir m\u00e1s de lo habitual o quejarse de sentirse cansado todo el tiempo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cambios en la alimentaci\u00f3n<\/strong> Comer demasiado o demasiado poco.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enfermarse m\u00e1s a menudo<\/strong>.  El estr\u00e9s suele manifestarse en forma de s\u00edntomas f\u00edsicos.  Los ni\u00f1os estresados suelen tener dolores de cabeza y de est\u00f3mago, y acuden con frecuencia a la consulta de la enfermera.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experimentaci\u00f3n con drogas.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Un mecanismo de afrontamiento negativo que puede provocar mayores problemas de salud f\u00edsica y mental.<\/p>\n<p>La buena noticia es que hay varias formas en que los padres y tutores pueden ayudar a sus hijos a aprender a gestionar y afrontar el estr\u00e9s. Un buen comienzo es ser consciente de sus comportamientos y emociones y generar confianza, para que se sientan c\u00f3modos confiando sus sentimientos. Anime a su hijo a probar las siguientes estrategias.   Consejos para ayudar a los ni\u00f1os a afrontar el estr\u00e9s Incluir:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Duerme un poco.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Dormir es esencial para la salud f\u00edsica y mental. Dormir lo suficiente ayuda al organismo a crecer y desarrollarse con normalidad, adem\u00e1s de facilitar la atenci\u00f3n.   Mientras que los adolescentes necesitan entre 8 y 10 horas, los ni\u00f1os m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os necesitan entre 9 y 12 horas.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Encuentra tiempo para la diversi\u00f3n y la tranquilidad.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Encuentre actividades o aficiones que les aporten alegr\u00eda y ayude a sus hijos adolescentes a encontrar formas de incorporarlas a su vida.  Mientras que a algunos chicos les encanta ir de una actividad a otra, otros necesitan m\u00e1s tiempo de descanso.  Lo ideal es encontrar un equilibrio saludable entre ambos.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Centrarse en los puntos fuertes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Cada persona tiene su propia magia, es decir, sus propios puntos fuertes, talentos y caracter\u00edsticas.  Al centrarse en los puntos fuertes y reconocerlos, pueden mantener sus factores estresantes en perspectiva. Las investigaciones tambi\u00e9n han descubierto que escribir sobre aquello de lo que uno se siente orgulloso o agradecido puede aliviar los s\u00edntomas de ansiedad y depresi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Realizar actividad f\u00edsica<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>El ejercicio no s\u00f3lo nos libera del estr\u00e9s, sino que tambi\u00e9n hace que se liberen en el cerebro sustancias qu\u00edmicas (endorfinas) que nos hacen sentir mejor.  El ejercicio puede ser tan sencillo como un paseo en\u00e9rgico al aire libre, tirar un par de canastas con los amigos o una improvisada fiesta de baile.  Estar al aire libre en la naturaleza tiene su propia eficacia para aliviar el estr\u00e9s, as\u00ed que combinar ambas cosas puede reportar beneficios a\u00f1adidos.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Hable con alguien<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Controlar el estr\u00e9s puede ser dif\u00edcil. Tener un adulto de confianza con quien hablar, como un padre, un profesor o un terapeuta, puede ayudar a los ni\u00f1os a ver las cosas con perspectiva y a encontrar soluciones. Trabaje con sus hijos para elaborar una lista de adultos a los que puedan acudir en busca de orientaci\u00f3n cuando lo necesiten.<\/p>\n<p>Sentirse estresado es una parte natural de la vida para todas las personas, independientemente de su edad.  Aunque no podemos proteger a nuestros hijos de \u00e9l, los padres y tutores pueden modelar estrategias de afrontamiento saludables y apoyarles en la gesti\u00f3n de los momentos dif\u00edciles cuando es demasiado para ellos solos.
