Soy de una ciudad muy religiosa a las afueras de Chicago, conocida por tener el mayor n\u00famero de iglesias por milla cuadrada. Nuestro sistema de ense\u00f1anza p\u00fablica es de \"s\u00f3lo abstinencia\" y se nos instaba a esperar hasta el matrimonio para tener nuestra primera relaci\u00f3n sexual. Nos ense\u00f1aron todas las cosas negativas que te pueden pasar, y se utilizaron im\u00e1genes gr\u00e1ficas de ETS e historias de terror sobre embarazos adolescentes para demostrar las consecuencias. No se nos informaba sobre los preservativos ni los anticonceptivos, lo que posiblemente afect\u00f3 al pu\u00f1ado de compa\u00f1eras de clase que se quedaron embarazadas en alg\u00fan momento de nuestros cuatro a\u00f1os de instituto. No ten\u00edamos informaci\u00f3n sobre c\u00f3mo estar seguros o c\u00f3mo hablar de sexo. Dejaban que nuestros padres nos ense\u00f1aran, pero si eres de una familia parecida a la m\u00eda, hablar de sexo no es algo que hagamos. La falta de comunicaci\u00f3n que encontr\u00e9 con respecto al sexo afect\u00f3 a mi forma de pensar sobre los encuentros sexuales y cre\u00f3 un sentimiento de culpa en mis amigos y en m\u00ed misma. No creo que fuera una educaci\u00f3n eficaz y, por ello, soy una ferviente partidaria de la educaci\u00f3n sexual integral. Una educaci\u00f3n sexual integral nos habr\u00eda dado la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para tomar decisiones sobre el sexo y los anticonceptivos con informaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dicamente precisa en lugar de con miedo.
