Encendemos la radio del coche al son de la m\u00fasica navide\u00f1a. La canci\u00f3n que suena nos dice: \"Es la \u00e9poca m\u00e1s maravillosa del a\u00f1o\". No podemos evitar preguntarnos: \"\u00bfLo es?\". Si esto le resulta familiar, no est\u00e1 solo. Muchos adultos sienten el peso del mundo durante las fiestas, pero \u00bfc\u00f3mo afecta ese peso a los ni\u00f1os de nuestras vidas?<\/p>\n<p>Es f\u00e1cil tener grandes expectativas para las vacaciones. Los niveles de estr\u00e9s se acumulan en un remolino interminable de <em>deber\u00eda dos, debe dos, tiene que dos, es justo dos <\/em>y un largo etc\u00e9tera. Muchos han tenido la suerte de pasar unas fiestas maravillosas en su infancia, lo que influye mucho en sus expectativas de repetir esa experiencia a\u00f1o tras a\u00f1o. Lo ir\u00f3nico es que, a veces, esos recuerdos de las fiestas pueden no haber sucedido tal y como los recordamos, por lo que, en esencia, estamos intentando duplicar una fantas\u00eda. Una tarea extremadamente dif\u00edcil de repetir para los adultos, pero sobre todo para los ni\u00f1os... \u00a1y sin duda genera estr\u00e9s!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6759 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/holiday-lights-1000px-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cuando los adultos, los ni\u00f1os y los adolescentes est\u00e1n rodeados de expectativas poco realistas, la situaci\u00f3n se vuelve muy estresante y existe una relaci\u00f3n entre el estr\u00e9s y la toma de decisiones poco saludables. Es natural que una persona estresada busque alivio de la forma m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil y r\u00e1pida. Tal vez esa soluci\u00f3n incluya una copa de vino para aguantar una fiesta navide\u00f1a, un Xanax antes de salir de compras o un Ambien para despejar la mente y conciliar el sue\u00f1o. Los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n presentan con demasiada frecuencia el consumo de drogas como una forma adecuada y eficaz de aliviar el estr\u00e9s y muchas veces lo convierten en una broma. Debemos recordar que una \"taza de alegr\u00eda navide\u00f1a\" no es lo mismo que una bebida para \"relajarse\"... y los ni\u00f1os lo notan. Entonces, \u00bfc\u00f3mo gestionamos el estr\u00e9s en torno a las vacaciones?<\/p>\n<p>En primer lugar, recuerda que no hay fiesta \"perfecta\". La American Psychological Association aborda las expectativas de la siguiente manera: \"Tenga expectativas realistas: ninguna Navidad, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa u otra celebraci\u00f3n festiva es perfecta. Considere los inevitables errores como oportunidades para ejercitar su flexibilidad y resistencia. Un \u00e1rbol torcido o una falda quemada no arruinar\u00e1n tus vacaciones, sino que crear\u00e1n un recuerdo familiar. Si la lista de deseos de sus hijos se sale de su presupuesto, hable con ellos sobre expectativas realistas y recu\u00e9rdeles que las fiestas no consisten en regalos caros.\"<\/p>\n<p>En segundo lugar, aunque no faltan consejos para prevenir el estr\u00e9s navide\u00f1o, sentirse obligado a poner todos esos consejos en pr\u00e1ctica puede en realidad <u>causa<\/u> estr\u00e9s. Establecer y tener expectativas realistas es una excelente estrategia de prevenci\u00f3n del estr\u00e9s, no s\u00f3lo para las vacaciones, sino para la vida. Al establecer expectativas realistas como primer paso y ense\u00f1ar a los ni\u00f1os y adolescentes de tu vida a hacer lo mismo, ayudar\u00e1s a desarrollar una valiosa habilidad. A algunos les preocupa que establecer expectativas realistas desaliente las grandes ideas y los sue\u00f1os. Los grandes objetivos y aspiraciones no son incompatibles con las expectativas realistas.
