Eso significa que la escuela ha terminado y estamos llenando nuestros d\u00edas con actividades divertidas que nos llevan al aire libre y en nuevas aventuras.  Junio tambi\u00e9n significa que es el Mes del Orgullo LGBTQ (Lesbianas, Gays, Bisexuales, Transexuales, Queer\/Queer). En medio de toda tu planificaci\u00f3n veraniega, \u00bfhas pensado en c\u00f3mo reconocer\u00e1s el Mes del Orgullo? Mientras que algunos de nosotros podemos unirnos a desfiles, marchas u otras celebraciones para mostrar nuestro apoyo, eso puede no ser c\u00f3modo para todos.  Me gustar\u00eda sugerir que una forma en que todos podemos celebrar este mes es dedicando alg\u00fan tiempo a educarnos sobre temas relacionados con la identidad y la expresi\u00f3n de g\u00e9nero, y la orientaci\u00f3n sexual y de g\u00e9nero, independientemente de nuestros niveles actuales de comprensi\u00f3n, inter\u00e9s o creencias personales.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5551 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/diversity-clipart-inclusivity-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"348\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/diversity-clipart-inclusivity-9.png 348w, https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/diversity-clipart-inclusivity-9-300x293.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Todos los d\u00edas leemos art\u00edculos y vemos noticias sobre cuestiones y logros relacionados con el colectivo LGBTQ.  A nivel local, leemos sobre la hist\u00f3rica elecci\u00f3n de la primera alcaldesa negra abiertamente gay de Chicago. A nivel nacional, puede que hayamos o\u00eddo que el Tribunal Supremo est\u00e1 a punto de juzgar el pr\u00f3ximo oto\u00f1o tres casos de derechos civiles relacionados con la protecci\u00f3n de las personas LGBTQ en el lugar de trabajo, o que actualmente se proh\u00edbe a los transexuales servir en el ej\u00e9rcito. Un reciente art\u00edculo del New York Times explicaba que actualmente hay seis estados que se est\u00e1n planteando a\u00f1adir un marcador no binario, o designaci\u00f3n de g\u00e9nero neutro, al permiso de conducir.  Es evidente que para ser un ciudadano comprometido hoy en d\u00eda, tenemos que ser educados en temas LGBTQ y que estas cuestiones merecen pensamiento informado y consideraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan el Instituto Williams de UCLA, en marzo de 2018, se estimaba que hab\u00eda 3,2 millones de j\u00f3venes (de 8 a 18 a\u00f1os) que eran LGBTQ.  Entre los j\u00f3venes mayores (grados 9-12), 8% o 1,6 millones se identificaron como LGB y casi 1% o 150, 000 se identificaron como transg\u00e9nero.  Teniendo en cuenta estas estad\u00edsticas, es a\u00fan m\u00e1s importante que los adultos y profesionales que se preocupan por ellos se eduquen y examinen sus propias creencias y experiencias con el fin de crear entornos que sean inclusivos y de afirmaci\u00f3n para los j\u00f3venes.<\/p>\n<p>Dada la gran diversidad que se engloba bajo el paraguas LGBTQ, en lo que se refiere a sexo y g\u00e9nero, la gente puede sentirse intimidada por el tema o sentirse avergonzada o abrumada por su limitada comprensi\u00f3n de todo ello.  \u00bfPor d\u00f3nde empezar?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conozca el significado de las siglas.<\/li>\n<li>Considera tus propias experiencias de g\u00e9nero. C\u00f3mo han afectado las expectativas de los dem\u00e1s a tu propio camino?<\/li>\n<li>Explora c\u00f3mo las normas de g\u00e9nero son diferentes en las distintas culturas y a lo largo de la historia.<\/li>\n<li>Conoce las diferencias entre g\u00e9nero y orientaci\u00f3n sexual y entre expresi\u00f3n de g\u00e9nero e identidad de g\u00e9nero.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00bfY si ya te sientes seguro de tus conocimientos sobre temas y vocabulario LGBTQ?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trabajar para crear entornos m\u00e1s inclusivos para todos mediante cambios en el lenguaje y las pr\u00e1cticas, como preguntar a las personas qu\u00e9 pronombres (\u00e9l\/ella, ella\/\u00e9l, ellos\/ellas) utilizan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Independientemente de d\u00f3nde nos encontremos en todo esto, cada uno de nosotros puede encontrar maneras de aprender m\u00e1s y ampliar nuestra comprensi\u00f3n.
