Seg\u00fan la SAMSHA (Administraci\u00f3n de Servicios de Salud Mental y Abuso de Sustancias), casi 60% de los adolescentes han bebido alcohol a los 18 a\u00f1os y 11% de todas las bebidas alcoh\u00f3licas vendidas en EE.UU. son consumidas por personas de entre 12 y 20 a\u00f1os. Con estad\u00edsticas como \u00e9stas, es obvio que los adolescentes llevan mucho tiempo siendo ingeniosos a la hora de encontrar lugares donde conseguir alcohol. \u00bfDebemos esperar que esto sea diferente durante una crisis como la pandemia del coronavirus? No, y de hecho, las nuevas leyes que permiten la venta de c\u00f3cteles \"para llevar\" durante la COVID pueden estar contribuyendo a\u00fan m\u00e1s a facilitar el acceso de los menores al alcohol.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9643\" src=\"https:\/\/candorhealthed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/alcohol-to-go-article1682x946-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Las leyes que permiten la venta de c\u00f3cteles para llevar se aprobaron r\u00e1pidamente en primavera, en respuesta a la necesidad de apoyar a bares y restaurantes en dificultades. Hasta el verano pasado, treinta y tres estados hab\u00edan aprobado leyes de este tipo. Esto supuso un aumento espectacular con respecto a los dos estados anteriores a la pandemia. La redacci\u00f3n exacta y los par\u00e1metros de la ley var\u00edan de un estado a otro y, en muchos de ellos, la ley expirar\u00e1 en uno o dos a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, a finales de junio, Iowa se convirti\u00f3 en el primer estado en legalizar de forma permanente los c\u00f3cteles \"para llevar\", y ahora otros estados tambi\u00e9n lo han hecho. Es probable que otros sigan su ejemplo.<\/p>\n<p>Sabemos que estas leyes est\u00e1n afectando a los adolescentes, como ilustra esta declaraci\u00f3n del Departamento de Control de Bebidas Alcoh\u00f3licas de California (ABC). Un mes despu\u00e9s de legalizar la venta de c\u00f3cteles para llevar, el Departamento de Control de Bebidas Alcoh\u00f3licas de California emiti\u00f3 un memor\u00e1ndum en el que afirmaba que \"los menores pueden comprar alcohol a domicilio en restaurantes\" y recibirlo f\u00e1cilmente en la puerta de su casa.<br \/>\nDado que es evidente que se ha abierto otra v\u00eda a los adolescentes que buscan comprar alcohol, \u00bfqu\u00e9 podemos hacer para mantener a salvo a nuestros hijos? Los padres de adolescentes deben vigilar de cerca la comida y la bebida que reciben en casa. Incluso las bebidas alcoh\u00f3licas pueden entregarse en vasos est\u00e1ndar \"para llevar\" y confundirse f\u00e1cilmente con limonada o refresco. Tambi\u00e9n hay que vigilar los recibos, sobre todo si el adolescente tiene acceso a una cuenta compartida.<\/p>\n<p>Un elemento esencial para garantizar que los c\u00f3cteles para llevar no acaben en las manos equivocadas es qu\u00e9 restricciones se incluyen en la ley. A continuaci\u00f3n se sugieren algunas restricciones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exigir al personal de reparto que compruebe o escanee el documento de identidad para verificar que el comprador tiene al menos 21 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<li>Exigir que el personal de reparto tenga al menos 21 a\u00f1os<\/li>\n<li>Limitar la cantidad de alcohol que puede entregarse en una transacci\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li>Restringir la entrega de alcohol a determinados d\u00edas de la semana y horas del d\u00eda<\/li>\n<li>Responsabilizar a las empresas de reparto de la verificaci\u00f3n de la edad<\/li>\n<li>Definir claramente y aplicar las consecuencias del incumplimiento por parte de los minoristas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Para un adulto responsable, pedir un margarita con comida mexicana para llevar parece una idea divertida y bastante benigna. Sin embargo, est\u00e1 claro que sin una regulaci\u00f3n adecuada esto puede convertirse en un concepto peligroso muy r\u00e1pidamente.
