March is here, which means it’s time for the annual SHAPE America conference. For Candor Health Education, this has become an event we look forward to each year. In 2026, Candor will attend the conference for the third time, and each year we’re reminded why showing up to spaces like this matters.
This year, Candor will be represented by a small team of two. Together, we attend the conference to connect with educators from across the country, share what Candor Health Education offers, and learn more about the challenges schools are facing today when it comes to health education.
For more than 50 years, Candor Health Education has been committed to providing students with medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education and substance use prevention programs. What began decades ago as a popular field trip destination for students in the Chicagoland area has evolved into in-school and virtual programming that reaches students where they are today. Throughout all the changes that our organization has faced, one thing remains constant: health education is valuable, necessary, and powerful.
Attending the SHAPE America conference gives us the opportunity to introduce educators to Candor’s programs and talk with school leaders who may be looking for new ways to support their students. Many educators attend the conference searching for resources, ideas, and partners who can help bring engaging, effective health education into their schools. Being part of those conversations allows us to share how Candor’s programs can support that work.
At the same time, conferences like SHAPE America are also an opportunity to learn. We meet passionate health and physical education professionals, hear about innovative approaches happening in classrooms across the country, and gain insights that help us continue improving how we connect with students.
One of the most rewarding parts of attending each year is reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new educators who care deeply about student health and well-being. Those conversations remind us just how important this work is—and how many people across the country are committed to it.
This year we’re excited to attend #SHAPEKC, share more about Candor’s programs, and connect with educators who are looking for ways to empower their students through health education. We look forward to returning with new ideas, new connections, and renewed energy to continue the work we’ve been doing for more than 50 years.
